Oil On Floor
Unlike urethane finishes natural oil and hard wax oil finishes often come in a variety of tints eliminating the need for a stain.
Oil on floor. I could tell the finish was dulling a bit and needed a refresh just like we need to do periodically on our butcher block countertop. The finish will tend to be a matte to satin. The objective is to leave a loose grain in the wood floor into which the penetrating oil finish. The linseed oil then is warmed to help it penetrate more deeply into the wood.
We just re oiled the floors in october. Sand the wood floor on its final sanding with a low grit sandpaper pad using a mechanical buffer. Dust and grit are the worst on oil coated wood floors as they act as an abrasive serving to remove the oil coating and leave your wood flooring exposed. A gloss finish can be achieved by applying a coating of wax to an oil finished floor but we do not recommend this course.
To help protect the coating on your floor a thorough and regular cleaning regime is required to keep the floor free of dirt and dust.
