Northern hardwood species. Most common hardwoods. Species may include sugar maple american basswood white ash black ash yellow birch red maple and elms. Our hardwoods are produced from trees harvested in the northern colorado area. Northwest hardwoods offer over 20 species of exotic hardwood that are kiln dried for appropriate conditioning and moisture content.
Occasionally we are able to access materials from other areas of the country. After final inspection we separate select better from other grades to maintain grade integrity. Sugar maple is an immensely important species to the ecology of many forests in north america. The northern hardwoods forest type includes many tree species which vary by site and geographic range.
Unlike the conifers or softwood firs spruce and pines hardwood trees have evolved into a broad array of common species. The northern hardwood forest is a general type of north american forest ecosystem found over much of southeastern and south central canada ontario and quebec extending south into the united states in northern new england new york and pennsylvania and west along the great lakes to minnesota and western ontario some ecologists consider it a transitional forest because it contains species.
